Mainz 05 have suffered a narrow defeat at home to TSG Hoffenheim in Bundesliga action on Saturday evening.

The visitors were the better side throughout the game and took the lead through a well-worked goal from Robert Kramaric just before half-time.

Despite their efforts to equalise, Mainz could not find a way past the Hoffenheim defence as the hosts held on for all three points.

It was a disappointing result for the hosts who had been looking to bounce back from a poor performance against Bayern Munich earlier in the week.

Kramaric's goal was his fourth of the season and he now has five goals and two assists in his last six appearances for the club.

Mainz will be hoping to turn things around soon as they face off against Werder Bremen next weekend.
