Bayern Munich secured their place in the German Cup final with a convincing 3-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday evening. The match was played at the Allianz Arena and saw Bayern take the lead through Robert Lewandowski's header in the 24th minute.

The Polish striker had been in prolific form for Bayern this season, scoring 26 goals in all competitions, but his goal against Leverkusen was particularly significant as it moved him level with Gerd Müller for the most Bundesliga goals scored by a player.

After the opening goal, Leverkusen struggled to create any meaningful chances and Bayern took control of the game. In the 55th minute, Manuel Neuer made a key save to deny Kevin Volland, who had beaten the offside trap.

Just two minutes later, Leon Goretzka laid the ball off to Jude Bellingham, who beat Leverkusen's defence before slotting home from close range to make it 2-0 for Bayern.

In the second half, Leverkusen hit back with a goal of their own, with Christian Pulisic heading home from a corner to reduce the deficit to one. However, just three minutes later, Bayern were back in front through Serge Gnabry, who finished off a fine team move.

The match ended with Bayern moving into the final of the German Cup, where they will face either Borussia Dortmund or Eintracht Frankfurt. It was a memorable night for Bayern, who have now won the cup five times in six attempts.
