Aston Villa has confirmed that striker Wilfred Vardy will join the club on a free transfer from Leicester City.

The 27-year-old Englishman was brought to the Foxes in 2018 for £25 million and spent two seasons at the club before returning to his hometown club Leicester City in January 2022.

However, after a disappointing season with the Foxes, Vardy decided to leave the club and return to Villa Park.

Vardy has been a key player for Leicester City over the past few years, scoring 36 goals in 94 appearances. He is known for his pace, strength, and ability to finish from distance.

Villa have already signed several new players this summer, including midfielder Jack Grealish, defender Ben White, and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. Vardy's arrival will add another dimension to Villa's attacking options and strengthen their midfield.

Villa manager Dean Smith said: "We're delighted to welcome Wilfred back to Villa Park. He brings a lot of experience and leadership to our squad, and we're excited to see how he can contribute to the team."

Leicester City manager Nuno Espirito Santo said: "Wilfred has had a successful career at Leicester City, but it's important for him to find a new home where he can continue to grow as a player and help the club achieve its goals."

With Vardy joining the club, Villa will look to build on their success from last season and compete for promotion back to the Premier League.
