Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Everton striker Calvert-Lewin for a fee of £42 million (around $60 million). The deal is believed to be completed in a transfer window that ended on June 30, and it was announced by both clubs at the same time.
Calvert-Lewin, who has been with Everton since 2017, has scored 19 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions during his time at Goodison Park. He joined Spurs from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2020, where he made 18 appearances and scored three goals.
The addition of Calvert-Lewin will strengthen Tottenham's attacking options ahead of the upcoming season. The 23-year-old is known for his pace, finishing ability, and goal-scoring prowess, which should provide Tottenham with an extra dimension to their attack.
Spurs manager Antonio Conte has spoken highly of Calvert-Lewin, saying: "We're delighted to bring him to the club. He brings a lot of quality and experience to our squad, and I'm sure he'll be a big asset to us."
Conte also praised the work done by the club's technical staff in bringing in Calvert-Lewin, adding: "They did a great job, and we were able to get him at a very good price. We're excited to see what he can do here."
Calvert-Lewin's move to Tottenham comes as part of a busy summer transfer window for both clubs. Everton have also signed defender Ben Godfrey from Norwich City, while Tottenham have brought in defenders Cristian Romero and Jan Vertonghen from Ajax and Inter Milan respectively.
Overall, the arrival of Calvert-Lewin is expected to boost Tottenham's chances of success this season, and it will be interesting to see how he adapts to life in England and whether he can help the club achieve their goals.
